Breastfeeding and Reflux

This 50 min webinar is an introduction to my Reflux Workshop.  It is divided into 2 parts.  The first part covers a summary of what reflux is, what the research says, clinical guidelines, side effects of standard treatments and how it is often misdiagnosed.

The 2nd half looks at what common feeding issues are often misdiagnosed as reflux and how cultural parenting norms plays a role.  It also looks at the role of acid in the stomach and discusses the role of allergy.  This section particularly can be helpful for mums who are trying to work out what the cause of their baby's symptoms may be.

The webinar is designed to show how reflux is often misdiagnosed and to show the range of issues that can cause reflux like symptoms and how they can be resolved.  An IBCLC can then help to work through issues which you identify may be a cause of reflux symptoms in your baby.

The webinar is viewed via YouTube and available to you for 10 days.  You will receive a link by email within 24 hrs of purchase.  The email will be an automated mail from Google/YouTube so you may need to check your spam folder. If you don't receive an email please contact mammae@carolsmyth.co.uk

Baby Sleep & You

This webinar contains the complete content of the Baby Sleep & You Workshop.  It is 1hr 53 mins and can be stopped, started and watched at your leisure.

Sleep is a concern for most parents.  Caught between the perceived society norm of a "good" baby who sleeps long stretches, and the reality of a young baby who wakes frequently and needs help getting back to sleep, we're often confused as to what is normal, or if our baby has a sleep problem.  The webinar looks at the ideas behind the perceived norm of how a baby sleeps and what the research says about how a baby sleeps.  It looks at the expected sleeping pattern for a newborn and how this changes over the first year.  It looks at what happens during sleep, and the reason a baby sleeps as it does, and how we can manage the sleep disruption best for a newborn.  As the baby gets older we look at where and how babies get most sleep, and what the research says about how parents get more rest as well.

In detail the webinar covers:

  • What is normal sleep for a baby?
  • What are they programmed to expect?
  • Where, how, and how long do babies sleep?
  • What is a safe sleeping environment?
  • How much does this differ from baby to baby?
  • What kind of sleep progression can you expect over the first year?
  • How do parents of young babies sleep?
  • How do parents expectations of baby sleep affect their sleep and health?
  • What can cause extra waking?
  • How can we improve sleep?  (for both parents and babies)
